• Apocalypse

 a. Christian Church. The events describe in the revelation of St John; the Second Coming of Christ and ultimate destruction of the world.

Christians believe this is an event in which Jesus will come and destroy the world while saving the true believers by spiriting them away to some heavenly realm where they can spend eternity worshiping at his feet. A fantasy they have constructed to deal with their own inability to fathom their own mortality. But while the reasoning is faulty, the event itself is actually real and manifesting in the world at this point in time. But it is not the second coming of Jesus, it is the means by which the planet brings about the destruction of old patterns of behavior that no longer serve the evolution of the human species so that new patterns can develop. It is a healing crisis that signals not the end of the world but rather the beginning of a new stage in our evolution concerned not with consuming the planet but with coming to know who we really are. Suffering the consequences of our faulty perception of how this world works is what’s needed if we are to awaken a new reality and begin to heal the separation between us and everything not us. It is, in a sense, the second coming of Jesus if we understand that this healing was what the true Jesus was actually about.
