Ram Dass recording Here we all are

This is a live recording of a talk Ram Dass gave after returning from spending time with his Guru in India. It is still the best introduction to Buddhist thought I have encountered. It is both entertaining and full of useful information and the audible recording is a great way to experience it. There are many more Ram Dass recordings and books available and they are all worth spending time with but if you only get to experience one then this would be the one to choose. Other talks can be found here.

Buddha - Noble Eightfold Path

Like all traditions that began with one person a very long time ago, Buddhism suffers from too many schools of thought about what this person was actually saying when he was on this earth. I have never had much tolerance or use for all these opinions after the fact and have always searched out those sources containing what this person actually said with which to work. I learned who Jesus really was by reading the Gospels According to Thomas not from the Bible. I learned who the Buddha was by working with his story and the clues he brought back including the Noble Eightfold Path. If you find yourself drawn to the Buddha and what he represents, then this is a clear and well written book on what you need to know to work with this path.
